Think, Compute, Grow!

Think, Compute, Grow! is a complete scheme of work for teaching computing to children between 7 and 16 years old.

Lessons are linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, showing children how learning digital skills can help them contribute to a fairer, more sustainable world.

The scheme of work was originally written to enable children in remote settings to access digital learning, including where equipment and resources are limited.

However, even for schools in urban settings, learning to integrate technology and growing plants is an important and motivational context in which to learn.

Features include:

Lesson objectives based on a thorough and ambitious interpretation of the English national curriculum.
111 lessons, split across Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels, all linked to the United National Sustainable Development Goals.
Guidance on using the most effective, best value resources, including Scratch, Microbit and Python.
Exciting projects linked to sustainable agriculture, including programming plant moisture sensors, product marketing and simulating drones!
Lessons teaching important topics around E-safety, AI literacy and media literacy.
Guidance on effective and manageable assessment with proformas provided.
Resources will be updated over time. Video guides will be added this year.

Q.Learning Nepal

Q.Learning Nepal is a charity that supports children in the Hangdewa region of Nepal. This is one of the poorest regions of Nepal and without support, many children there would not be able to access education. Q.Learning Nepal does amazing work, including ensuring that children have access to essential supplies and that local schools and teachers have what they need.

The Think, Compute, Grow scheme of work is free to download.
